Recipient of the Patrissi Crime Victim Services Award,
State of Vermont April 25, 2006.
This award is presented to individuals who have demonstrated
exceptional dedication and have made an outstanding contribution
to victim services in Vermont over the expanse of their career or lifetime.
The Patrissi Award was specifically created in honor of JAC and Jason
Patrissi, in order to recognize individuals who, in their exemplary work
in victim services, advocacy or activism, have changed the culture and
practice of Vermont to be safer and more responsive to the needs and rights
of victims of crime. This honor will be awarded when individuals are leaving
their victim services work and are clearly deserving of a place in Vermont
history beside other leaders in victim service efforts.
JAC is a former recipient of a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship for her creative writing.
"JAC's attention to detail make her adept at all aspects of planning- from budget to
logistics to content. However, her true gifts are her leadership and
communication skills. I have watched her facilitate for years. JAC can coax meaningful
participation from even the shyest or most confrontational of attendees.
She meets people at their level, whereever that may be. Anyone who has the
opportunity to work with JAC will find her truly unforgettable. We may
have hired someone to fill her position at the Center, but no one will
ever be able to replace her.
MK Hewlett
Director of Victim Services
VT Center for Crime Victim Services
JAC is the only person I thought of to bring into facilitate the
Victim/Survivor of Crime Council when they were challenged by an
internal conflict and structural changes needed to be made to make the
Council a more formalized group.Working with a group of survivors of
crime has its unique challenges around safety, respectful communication
and process. She is able to ask the hard questions in a respectful
manner and this skill I have found is unmatched by professionals in the
field of facilitation that I have worked with. She is able to break
down barriers so that participants are able to feel safe and respected while
working on concerns they would normally be challenged to participate
in.
For this, I look to her when dealing with internal conflicts,
structural
changes and mechanisms that help the Council succeed. She is a gifted
communicator and an insightful mentor.

Council
JAC is a vibrant and strong leader!!! One can't easily find such a
capable leader with such integrity, strength, and personal warmth for others.
She is an outstanding facilitator- JAC can lead meetings or trainings or
conferences in a most positive and creative way; she makes people feel
they are truly involved and listened to. I have seen JAC bring together
diverse groups with competing agendas and find that common ground.
I must mention her planning- JAC's knowledge and determination helps her
plan national, and statewide projects, conferences and events exceptionally
well; her organization skills put me to shame!
You can't miss her training- JAC's enthusiam, energy and knowledge helps her put on
outstanding training workshops and presentations; she really knows how to get people
to connect and learn the information.
This is a human being with incredible communication skills-- she develops a rapport
with everyone and is always tries to be accessible to people.

A training designed by JAC is inspired and unforgettable. A dynamic
presenter and a highly skilled facilitator, she also has the gift for
coaching other trainers and speakers to raise them to their personal
best. It is no exaggeration to say that JAC is brilliant at everything
she does.
